Mapping the News: Youth program starts.
Caddo Parish Magnet High School student Niharika Jain is a recipient of the National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Awards, a scholarship program designed to reward and encourage entrepreneurial talents among high school students.
Jain was among three Louisiana winners. The other recipients are Pine School student Kara Thomas, of Franklinton, and Edward Douglas White High School student Brittany Weimer, of Raceland.
NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award recipients will attend the college or university of their choice with tuition assistance from the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation. To earn a scholarship, students were required to write an essay describing their entrepreneurial endeavors and future goals. Standardized test scores, GPA and class rank also were considered.
